Joining Our Church

All are welcome to join us for worship at St. John. However, if you would like to become a member of our congregation, we do have a few requirements:

• First, you must have received Christian baptism at any age. If you have not yet been baptized and are interested, please contact our church and our pastor will schedule a time to meet with you for a short, pre-baptism class. If you are interested in having your child baptized, you will need to also meet with our pastor for the pre-baptism class.
• Second, you must be confirmed. Confirmation is a time of instruction in the Christian faith followed by a public proclamation of that faith (Romand 10:9). We offer confirmation classes for students in 7th and 8th grade; this is how most of our school-age children join our congregation. For those in high school and beyond, we offer an 8-week new member class twice a year in which we cover the basics of the Christian and Lutheran faith. We require all those who wish to join our church to take the class whether or not you have been an LCMS Lutheran in past. If you are interested in taking the class, please contact our pastor; even if you are unable to attend in person, we have an online option that may be suitable for you.
