New Member Videos

On this page you’ll find the videos that comprise our New Member Class. Please feel free to watch them at your convenience. However, if you’re interested in joining St. John, please continue reading before watching the videos.

First, this video version of our New Member Class is intended for those who will have trouble making it to our in-person class. Before proceeding, please contact our pastor to see when the next in-person class will be and to determine whether or not the in-person or video class would be best.

If you decide to proceed with the video version of the class, please know that in order to be welcomed into the church as a new member, you’ll need to meet with our pastor after you’ve finished all the lessons. The purposes of this meeting are to make sure you watched the videos, learned something from the class, and to answer any questions that you might have. When you’ve watched all the eight lessons, it’ll be your responsibility to reach out to our pastor with a phone call, text, or email to let him know that you have completed the class and are ready to meet.

At this meeting, in order to “pass” the class, you’ll need to show that you engaged with the videos – you’ll be required to ask Pastor Rob questions (there’s not specific amount, but a sufficient amount to show that you paid attention enough to seek clarification about things that you didn’t fully understand or further information about topics you’re interested in.) You’ll also be required to answer some questions from Pastor Rob that he’ll ask you about the material you’ve watched. Considering this, as you watch each video, write down questions that you have on the sheets and take notes.

After you have met with Pastor Rob and shown that you have successfully completed the class, you’ll be given some information to fill out, and you’ll talk with Pastor Rob about getting involved in the church. After that, you’ll officially be welcomed as a member of our church in our records. The next time an in-person class is brought before the church to be welcomed by the congregation, you’ll be invited to do the same.
